Rio Your Way

As we say goodbye to 2022, we’re delighted to share some highlights of another busy year at our river resort. We were so glad to see Rio Sierra’s international guests beginning to travel here again after Covid kept them away in 2020 and 2021.

Of the hundreds of guests who stayed with us this year, we counted guests from 11 countries outside the U.S., led by Germany and France and including Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Netherlands,  Spain and Switzerland.

Most of you, though, were from here in the U.S., on a California road trip with Rio as your chosen destination. Thanks for that!

We worked hard to keep you all as happy, comfortable and healthy as possible in our rooms, and we’re proud of the high marks we scored with our booking partners – 9.4 out of 10 at Booking.com, 10 out of 10 on Hotels.com, 5 out of 5 on Expedia based on your reviews.

And speaking of those reviews — we read every word you send us, and we hope you know we take them to heart.

To the mom who told us we need two cookie sheets, not just one, for baking cookies for the kids at Birdwatch Cottage, it’s done!

Your happiness with your stay is our greatest reward. Some of the kind words you left that meant the most to us this year were these:

  • From a Birdwatch Cottage guest in May: “My kids loved that you can run in a circle around the house and go from a sweet picnic table and flower garden to a wild forest with a small waterfall to a grassy front yard all in the span of a minute. The backyard smells amazing, and there are so many birds!”
  • From the Master Suite guest in September who nailed the Rio vibe: “If you want someone to carry your bags, order room service,, clean the room every day, say good morning as you leave, this is not the place for you. If you want to relax in a really cool place, this is it.
  • From a returning family who booked the whole house in July: “The property feels like a B&B but with the separation of a boutique hotel. It’s whimsical because it feels as though fairies and gnomes inhabit the grounds.”
  • And from a guest in River Studio in August, five words that all by themselves made our year at Rio Sierra: “A place with a soul.”

Thank you one and all for your kind words, for taking the time to share them, and for choosing us for your lodging destination.

Happy Travels in 2023!
